Cosine Map

Cosine Map is a music similarity mapping tool built on the cosine.club audio-embedding API. Tracks are rendered as nodes in a d3 force-directed graph where edge distance means sonic closeness.

Search for a track (or paste a YouTube / Bandcamp / Discogs link) to seed a network. Click any node to see metadata, media player and connected tracks. Keep digging to grow the map hop by hop. Multiple seeds form distinct color-coded territories that merge when they share a track. Every map compresses into a shareable URL.

About

Multi-seed territories: Search again to add a second color-coded network. Multiple seeds form distinct territories that merge when they share a track.

Enriched, listenable nodes: Every node is enriched via Discogs and Bandcamp metadata (year, label, genre, location) powering four color modes and a sortable tracklist. Tracks play in place through YouTube and Bandcamp.

A map is a link: Any map (seeds, tracks, positions, edges) compresses into the URL hash and rebuilds entirely client-side. View-only, stateless, nothing stored on a server.

Optional user accounts: Sign in with Google or GitHub to save maps and playlists to a library.

Archive: open the Tracklist tab to see the network as a list, and save tracks or playlists. Every map has a shareable link.

cosine.club

cosine.club is a music similarity search engine created by hurfyd.

cosine.club finds similar tracks by analysing the actual audio — not tags, genres, or listening history. It uses the discogs-effnet model from Essentia to turn audio into vector embeddings that capture tonal, rhythmic, and structural characteristics.

The model was trained via contrastive learning on the Discogs music dataset, which has deep coverage of electronic and underground music. This makes the similarity results more relevant than general-purpose audio models for the kinds of tracks in the catalogue.

The database is focused on electronic and underground music: house, techno, UK garage, jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, electro, ambient, dub, funk, soul, disco, and a lot more.A map is a link
